Winter’s Bone
Winter's Bone, a film about a teenage girl who must venture deep into the wilderness to find her meth-making father, took home the grand jury prize for U.S. dramatic film at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival.
The U.S. documentary prize went to Restrepo, about an Army platoon in Afghanistan. The award for world cinema went to Animal Kingdom. Eric Mendelsohn won best director for U.S. dramatic film for 3 Backyards, starring Edie Falco, while Winter's Bone also took the Waldo Salt screenwriting award.
Waiting for Superman, from An Inconvenient Truth's Davis Guggenheim, took home the audience award for U.S. documentary. The audience award for U.S. dramatic film was given to happythankyoumoreplease, directed by How I Met Your Mother star Josh Radnor.
The directorial debut of Mark Ruffalo, Sympathy for Delicious, and the documentary GasLand both snagged special jury prizes at Robert Redford's annual independent cinema showcase.
