Shia LaBeouf to Become John Grisham's Associate

Paramount Pictures has named Shia LaBeouf as the lead in the studio's adaptation of the forthcoming John Grisham legal thriller The Associate.
LaBeouf will play a student nearing graduation from Yale Law School who is given privileged information about a multibillion-dollar lawsuit after he accepts a job at a prestigious law firm, according to Variety. The novel on which the film is based — Grisham's first legal thriller since 2005's The Broker — will be published in January.
Grisham's agent shopped the book to four producers before Lorenzo di Bonaventura, who worked on the Grisham films A Time to Kill and The Client, took interest. Bonaventura received the book in the Middle East, where he was working with LaBeouf on Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.
The film marks the latest LaBeouf vehicle from Paramount, which Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
