Robert Downey Jr.'s Marvel-ous New Deal
Robert Downey Jr.
Robert Downey Jr.'s new deal is definitely one to, well, marvel at.
According to Variety, the actor has inked a multi-film pact with Marvel Studios that will not only see him re-ignite the screen in two Iron Man sequels, but also star in the super-packed superhero flick The Avengers, in which he'll once again play Iron alter ego Tony Stark.
Iron Man kicked off the summer movie season in May with a worldwide gross of $578 million.
Hey, if it ain't broke...
Also returning for more Iron action is director Jon Favreau, although he is not confirmed for the third pic. Favrerau will also executive produce The Avengers, slated to hit screens July 15, 2011.
And after weeks of reports, Marvel has finally confirmed it has dropped Terrence Howard in favor of Don Cheadle to portray sidekick Col. James Rhodes in the sequels. To add insult to injury, Cheadle will also cross-over to The Avengers, a crop of crime-fighters that includes Captain America, Thor and Incredible Hulk characters.
Iron Man 2 will unspool May 7, 2010.
What do you think of RDJ's super deal? Are you pumped for more Iron, or is this too much?
