Precious and The Last Station Top Indie Spirit Award Nominations

Precious and The Last Station topped the 2010 Film Independent Spirit Award nominations with five nominations apiece, including best picture.

The two films will face off against (500) Days of Summer, Amreeka and Sin Nombre for the top honor. The nominations, announced Tuesday, also include nods for Precious for best director, best first screenplay, best actress and best supporting actress. The Last Station was nominated for best director, best screenplay, best actress and best actor.

Precious director Lee Daniels and The Last Station helmer Michael Hoffman will go up against Two Lovers' James Grey, Cary Fukunaga of Sin Nombre and The Coen Brothers for A Serious Man. The Coen Brothers will take home at least one award, the Robert Altman award with A Serious Man's casting director and cast.

Precious and The Last Station will also compete in the best female lead category where Gabourey Sidibe and Helen Mirren, respectively, are nominated alongside Gwyneth Paltrow (Two Lovers), Mario Bello (Downloading Nancy) and Nisreen Faour (Amreeka).

Best male lead nominees include Joseph Gordon-Levitt ((500) Days of Summer), Jeff Bridges (Crazy Heart), Adam Scott (The Vicious Kind), Souleymane Sy Savane (Goodbye Solo) and Colin Firth (A Single Man). A Single Man and Crazy Heart will also battle for best first feature along with fellow nominees Paranormal Activity, Easier with Practice and The Messenger.

The Messenger's Woody Harrelson and Samantha Morton will compete in the best supporting male and female categories, respectively. Harrelson will go head-to-head with Flight of the Conchords' Jemaine Clement (Gentlemen Broncos), Christian McKay (Me and Orson Welles), Raymond McKinnon (That Evening Sun) and Christopher Plummer (The Last Station). Morton is pitted against Dina Korzun (Cold Souls), Natalie Press (Fifty Dead Men Walking), Mia Wasikowska (That Evening Sun) and Mo'Nique (Precious).

The 25th Annual Film Independent Spirit Awards will air live Friday, March 5 at 11/10c on IFC.
