Cynthia Nixon Wants to Have "Fun" in Sex and the City 2

Cynthia Nixon may not yet know for certain if or when there will be another Sex and the City movie — "Nothing is for sure," she tells TVGuide.com, explaining, "Everybody is still negotiating" — but if the follow-up does come to be, she has one big wish for Miranda.
"I'd like her to have fun!" effuses the actress. "She had such a hard time [in the first film], I'd like her to have fun."
Nixon spoke with us Tuesday at the New York Women in Film & Television's annual Muse Awards, where she was being honored alongside Laura Linney, Nickelodeon exec Cyma Zarghami and ad exec Linda Kaplan Thaler.
Asked for her own inspiration and an example of a pioneer in advancing women in the entertainment industry, Nixon singled out fellow theater vet Jane Alexander. Thinking back to the 1996 Tony Awards, Nixon said that Alexander "got up to present — and at the time she was the chairman for the National Endowment for the Arts, where there had been a lot of cutting [of funds] — and the entire audience gave her a standing ovation. It was partly about what a tremendous actress and person she was, but it was also the whole theater community saying we need to fund the arts."
