Love Guru Is Hated On by the Razzies
The Love Guru
The Love Guru didn't feel any love from audiences and critics alike, but it is getting some from the Razzies.
The Mike Myers summer bomb topped Razzie nominations with a leading seven mentions, including, naturally, worst picture.
"This is one of those auteur-of-the-awful situations," Razzies founder, John Wilson, said. "I think people are tired of him in general. He hasn't really made a good movie in quite some time."
The Love Guru was a, uh, passion project of sorts for Myers, who not only starred in it, but co-wrote and produced it too. The film scored worst acting nods for Myers, Jessica Alba, Verne Troyer and Ben Kingsley. Too bad Justin Timberlake missed the cut.
Vying for worst pictures dis-honors against Love Guru are Disaster Movie, The Happening, The Hottie and the Nottie, In The Name Of The King: A Dungeon Siege Tale and Meet the Spartans.
Myers' worst actor competition include Al Pacino (88 Minutes and Righteous Kill), Mark "'Sup, Goat?" Wahlberg (The Happening and Max Payne), Larry the Cable Guy (Witless Protection) and reigning worst actor and worst supporting actor Eddie Murphy (Meet Dave).
The worst actress race features a lot of women — literally. Joining Alba (who's also nominated for The Eye) are Cameron Diaz (What Happens in Vegas), Paris Hilton (The Hottie and the Nottie), Kate Hudson (Fool's Gold and My Best Friend's Girl) and the estrogen-laced cast of The Women (Annette Bening, Eva Mendes, Debra Messing, Jada Pinkett-Smith and Meg Ryan).
Air-ess Hilton garnered three nominations total, including one for worst screen couple for The Hottie and the Nottie and worst supporting actress for Repo! The Genetic Rock Opera.
Winners will be crowned Feb. 21, a day before the Academy Awards.
