Kellan Lutz, Kristen Stewart and, Robert Pattinson, Twilight - Summit Entertainment
He's already the favorite bad-boy jock in CW's reboot of 90210, so it's no wonder Kellan Lutz is ready for another set of extreme fan expectations when the book series Twilight hits the big screen on Friday.
"I don't feel any pressure," said Lutz, who plays Emmett Cullen, a vampire brother to Twilight's big heartthrob, Edward (Robert Pattinson). "Obviously we are doing this movie for [the fans], so it's really great to have the fans come out, and support us and to give us that energy, and for us to reciprocate and give it back to them."
Chatting recently in Los Angeles, Lutz explained that he loves how fans rave (and rant) about both of his characters when they see him around town.
"Some people brought it to my attention that Emmett has curly hair," he said, running his hand over his smooth, short blonde cut. "So, it's tough when you can't be perfect in everyone's eyes to your character ... but, in the end, we are ourselves playing these characters."
Although his hair doesn't match Twilight author Stephenie Meyer's description, Lutz does share his alter-ego's fun-loving demeanor, which drew him to the role. "He just he loves life, and loves making fun of people," Lutz beamed. "And then when situations arise where he needs to be the tough Grizzly bear, he turns that on. He's a big kid."
Now that Lutz has played a vampire, his next dream role would involve getting dark and cerebral, a la Requiem for a Dream. "I'm such a happy guy," he said. "I would love to cry on screen and tap into that."
