Jonas Brothers Are Second Best at Box Office

Jonas Brothers: The 3-D Concert Experience

So much for world domination.

Despite plenty of hype and a weekend theater-invasion tour, Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience opened second to Madea Goes to Jail, earning $12.7 million. The soft opening was well below industry expectations, which had the trio earning about twice as much. Fellow teen idol Miley Cyrus' 3-D picture, Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds, opened to $31.1 million last year.

Madea Goes to Jail locked in the top spot for the second consecutive week with $16.5 million, putting its 10-day tally at $64.9 million.

Nipping at the Jonas Brothers' heels was Oscar champ Slumdog Millionaire. Its $12.2 million gross represents the biggest take by a newly crowned best picture winner in a decade. The take for the rags-to-riches tale now sits at $115 million.

The weekend's other new release, Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li, limped in at No. 8 with $4.65 million.

Rounding out the top 10 were: Taken (No. 4, $9.95 million), He's Just Not That Into You (No. 5, $5.8 million), Paul Blart: Mall Cop (No. 6, $5.6 million), Coraline (No. 7, $5.2 million), Confessions of a Shopaholic (No. 9, $4.49 million) and Fired Up (No. 10, $3.8 million).
