Inception has continued its dream run atop the box office.

Christopher Nolan's mind-bending thriller reeled in $27.5 million to land at No. 1 for the third straight weekend. Its total now stands at $193.3 million, according to Box Office Mojo.

Steve Carell and Paul Rudd's Dinner for Schmucks followed closely in second with a $23.3 million opening. The weekend's other new releases, Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore ($12.5 million) and Charlie St. Cloud ($12.1 million), bowed in fifth and sixth place, respectively.

Angelina Jolie's Salt dropped one spot to No. 3 with $19.2 million, edging past Carell's other film, Despicable Me, which grossed $15.5 million to secure fourth place.

Rounding out the top 10 were: Toy Story 3 (No. 7, $5 million); Grown Ups (No. 8, $4.5 million); The Sorcerer's Apprentice (No. 9, $4.3 million); and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (No. 10, $3.9 million).
