Diablo Cody Adapting Sweet Valley High Books for the Big Screen

Diablo Cody

Diablo Cody is going back to high school again. The Oscar winner will turn the Sweet Valley High book series into a movie, Variety reports.

News: Is Diablo Cody a Hollywood powerhouse?

Cody will also produce the film adaptation with her manager, Mason Novick, Adam Siegel and Marc Platt.

First published in 1983, the Sweet Valley novels chronicled the lives of identical twin sisters with polar-opposite personalities — Jessica and Elizabeth Wakefield — in the fictional city of Sweet Valley, Calif. A syndicated TV series based on the books, which ceased publication in 2003, aired from 1994 until 1997, starring twins Brittany and Cynthia Daniel.

Sweet Valley High will mark Cody's third high school-set film, following Juno and Jennifer's Body, which opened to a lackluster $6.8 million over the weekend.
