Keanu Reeves is having his Day at the box office.
The actor's sci-fi flick, The Day the Earth Stood Still, a remake of the 1951 original, opened in the top spot over the weekend with a $31 million intake, The Hollywood Reporter reports.
Earth's impressive debut also marks Reeves' biggest opening since 2003's The Matrix Revolutions.
Four Christmases continued to bring holiday cheer and laughs. After two weeks at No. 1, the Vince Vaughn-Reese Witherspoon comedy slipped to the silver position with $13.3 million, to bring its total to $88 million.
Holding strong in third was Twilight, whose $8 million haul allowed it to surpass the $150 million mark.
The weekend's other big release, Nothing Like the Holidays, bowed in the seventh spot with $3.5 million.
Rounding out the top 10 were Bolt (No. 4, $7.5 million), Australia (No. 5, $4.2 million), Quantum of Solace (No. 6, $3.8 million), Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa (No. 8, $3.2 million), Milk (No. 9, $2.6 million) and Transporter 3 (No. 10, $2.2 million).
