Cate Blanchett is adding another classic role to her resume: Maid Marian.
The Oscar winner will star opposite Russell Crowe in director Ridley Scott's reimagining of Robin Hood, according to Variety. Blanchett replaces Sienna Miller, who exited the project late last year.
The production has gone through several changes. Originally titled Nottingham, the film endeavored to tell the Robin Hood story from the Sheriff of Nottingham's point of view. Along with the name change came a script rewrite — the current version features Crowe as Robin of Loxley in a Gladiator-esque version of the tale.
Producer Brian Grazer seems satisfied with the changes, particularly the casting of Blanchett. "They are both highly accomplished dramatic actors who are taken seriously playing rich characters in period pieces, but each has the ability to show you fun," he said.
