Payne is a down-on-his-luck fighter reduced to driving a cab. He is married to Castle, who is having an affair with Dexter, a jewel thief. Keyes is a would-be actress accused of murdering a stage producer. Payne offers to help her but finds he must clear his name as well when Castle's lifeless body turns up in the back of his cab.
