Manhattan-based interior designer Jane Emelin (Juliette Lewis) is dating much-older TV weatherman Greg Harrison (William Hurt) and planning to move in to a house in Westchester with him. Then the sudden death of her elderly aunt leaves Jane in a position to take over a spectacular, Greenwich Village floor-through apartment at an unbelievably cheap rent of $400 per month.
