An alcoholic voluntarily enters a mental ward in search of a cure. He doesn't get along with one of his male nurses and consequently is declared uncooperative and kept in custody against his will. This is a poorly made and depressing work that shows hardly any sympathy toward its subject. The patients are the film's main focus, with all other characters poorly sketched and shunted off to the side. Little attention is paid to simple continuity (characters change clothes from shot to shot with utter abandon), but the camerawork isn't too bad, making some use out of the rural Australian scenery. leave a comment
