20 Million Miles To Earth

The first human expedition to Venus returns to Earth in a crash landing off the coast of Italy (in an ocean that is part of a set borrowed from MUTINY ON THE BOUNTY). The only survivor is Hopper and he's frightened that he may have lost a canister holding specimens of Venusian life. He has, all right, and the canister containing a gelatinous substance is found by a young boy. The gel hatches and zoologist Puglia puts the tiny creature in a cage. Imagine his surprise the next morning when the thing is now four feet long and hungry. It gets loose and begins attacking in the prescribed science-fiction manner, all the while increasing in size.
