Failed actress Martha Madison (Martha Raye) and audience-shy actor Marlowe Mansfield Booth (Joe E. Brown) transform the college she has inherited into a drama school. Having trouble coming up with students, they try to put the school on the map by developing a winning football team, using the romance course taught by knockout Betty McGlen (Susan Hayward) to attract players from other institutions.
