As far as teen movies go, 10 Things I Hate About You ranks near the top, perhaps even trumping Clueless as a cult favorite, depending on who you ask. And like Clueless, the 1999 romp — which launched the careers of Heath Ledger and Julia Stiles — has hit the small screen (Tuesdays at 8 pm/ET, on ABC Family). "The movie is such a wonderful, classic teen comedy. ... We're breathing new light into it," Meaghan Jette Martin, who plays socially ambitious Bianca Stratford, tells TVGuide.com. As one in a flurry of scheduling decisions, ABC Family has decided to cut the cord on Kyle XY after this, its recently premiered third season.

ABC Family is looking for more laughs, picking up two comedy pilots, including one based on the 1999 teen flick, 10 Things I Hate About You.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gil Junger, the director of the film 10 Things — which introduced audiences to the late Heath Ledger — has signed on to direct the pilot. The series won't deviate too much from the feature, which itself was based on William Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew, following two polar-opposite sisters in high school.
Greek's Carter Covington will write and executive produce the single-camera show.

Not long before 3:35 pm on January 22, 2008, the short life and promising career of actor Heath Ledger came to a sudden, tragic end.
